My grandmother passed away last year and it was really hard on me and my family. I had always been really close to her growing up and she understood me in a way no one else did. I think she knew things about who I am before I did—it’s hard not to be close with someone like that. She passed in her sleep and it was pretty sudden. On the day that would have been her 86th birthday, my boyfriend gave me this ring. Sapphire was her birthstone so it’s something that I will always have to remind me of her.
